A Little Writing Update & Looking Ahead! September 2017

Hello, friends!

I hope that you’re enjoying this fall season ~ Where I live, we’re getting an “Indian summer”, with some days at least as hot as those during the real summer months. My tomato plants and eggplant are not complaining, though… Instead of a frost this week, which had been kind of predicted by the planting calendar that I looked at, we are getting plenty of sunshine and heat to redden the tomatoes and plump up the eggplants. 🙂 This makes me a happy camper since one can never have too many tomatoes in an at least partially-Italian household. And then my husband’s Amish co-worker gave us 3 more eggplant from his garden because he and his wife had so many that they didn’t know what to do with them. I think eggplant parmesan – and lots of it – is in our future… 🙂

Anyway, enough with gardens and food! You’re here for a writing update, aren’t you? Here it is ~ at least a smallish one 🙂 :

What am I working on?

I’m still working on filling in the gaps in A Holy Passion: A Novel of David Brainerd and Jerusha Edwards. Over the summer, I took several weeks completely off writing ~ I was blessed with the opportunity to travel with family for part of July and August, and I quite honestly – and somewhat ashamedly! – did no writing.  But, as Pumba says in The Lion King, you gotta put your behind in the past. 🙂 Now, September is almost finished… and I can thankfully say that the rough draft of A Holy Passion is coming to a close as well! The Lord has been blessing me with some great writing days, for which I’m very thankful, and I’m thankful, too, for your prayers, friends ~ Through praying for and encouraging me, you are just as much a part of this endeavor as I, as God uses you to push His work forward.

I had planned to start a Great Awakening series here on A Brighter Destiny this month, to give some background on A Holy Passion, but, after thinking it through more thoroughly (after my initial excitement!), I decided that the writing time would be better spent right now *finishing* the rough draft than getting too bogged down with a blog series commitment. That series is still in mind, however, so those of you who told me you were looking forward to it may not be ultimately disappointed. 🙂 There is so much about this time period that I would like to share with you, but David’s story ultimately takes priority right now. 🙂

What’s next?

After I finish the rough draft of A Holy Passion, it will go on to my first/beta-readers, and they will have awhile to tear into it and then give me their feedback. While that’s going on, I have two more smaller projects that I’d like to work on this autumn, but I’ll save more on that for after I finish this rough draft of A Holy Passion ~ I get distracted from project to project too easily! 🙂

If you’d like to stay up-to-date with what’s happening in my writing world, I’ll be continuing to update you all on Facebook as well as here on the blog.

Grace and peace to you, friends, in Jesus Christ ~ May He always fill your hearts and your eyes and your minds.
